The Covid Safety Bit

As we come back to dancing after the pandemic, we are adopting a number of policies to help protect each other from COVID-19. This page outlines those policies.

We're thrilled to be starting up again but we know covid hasn't gone away and our dance is very close contact. We know that within our community everyone has different circumstances and reasons to be cautious and we would like to be accessible to as many of you as possible. For now we have decided on the measures outlined below to balance being able to dance closely, dance with different people, and smile at each other with the ongoing risk.

Conditions of Attendance

We ask that you do not attend a class, if you have symptoms of COVID-19, or if you have had close contact within the last 10 days with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.

Class Environment

We will make sure that our class enviornment is well ventilated with open windows, and we will provide sanitizer for anyone who wishes to use it.

Masks are Optional

The Scottish government does not require people to wear masks in indoor spaces while they are dancing. As we love to see each other's faces while we dance (and also know that masks and dancing are a recipe for overheating), we will also not be requiring the wearing of masks during our classes; however if anyone wishes to wear a mask during our classes, they are more than welcome!

Partnering

Traditionally, during our classes, it has been common practice for everyone to switch partners within the entire group, but we want to empower everyone attending our classes to choose who they dance with. As such, in our classes you should feel free to...

  • dance solo.
  • bring a partner and dance only with them.
  • dance only with members of a small group.
  • dance with everyone who's willing.
